Addie and Jacob are the kind of people photographers hope for! From the moment we met, they were laid back, trusted me, and took the advice I gave them to prepare for their engagement shoot! While I could go on and on about how awesome they were to work with, feel free to take a moment and get to know their story and see a few of their photos below!

  • Tell us how you first met? Who, what, when, where, why? Give us the dirty details.

Jacob and I were both pharmacy students at Texas Tech in Abilene. I was in my second year and Jacob was in his fourth year, and he was a teaching assistant in one of my lab courses. It was funny because we had to be covered from head to toe with masks and large potato sack like sterile gowns. I didn’t notice, but he seemed to spend more time with me and my lab partner. I didn’t realize our relationship was brewing until a friend of mine told me that “y’all are going to happen,” after she saw us talking and joking after class. So of course from then on, Jacob was stuck in my head and I couldn’t stop imagining him being my boyfriend. For about a few weeks after that, we didn’t see each other as much because our school schedules had changed but that didn’t stop me from trying to make sure our paths crossed. We had a pharmacy school spring banquet to reunite and he found the nerve to tell me he thought I was pretty and he was interested finally! But then he immediately left, so I had to track him down later that night and tell him that he better follow-up because I wouldn’t wait around forever.

  • When did you know he/she was the one? Was there something he/she did?, etc.

Jacob: I knew pretty early on that Addie was the one for me, but it was from so many little happy moments we were sharing, and the fact that not even a month in, I was so sure that she was the most interesting, fun, smart, goofy, and perfect for me girl I had ever known. I never had any doubts with her.

Addie: I was basically sold on Jacob after the first time he cooked me dinner! LOL But seriously, he is the best cook I have ever met. The way that Jacob treated me so kindly and respectful, could make laugh at the drop of a hat, and tolerated all my crazy tendencies, is really what made me fall in love with him and continue to be head over heels for him everyday.

  • Tell us about the proposal. (Did you see it coming, how long was it in the planning?, how did you feel? nervous, excited, freaking out?)

Jacob: I had the ring for couple of weeks before proposing, and it drove me crazy waiting until she came to visit me in Fort Worth to pop the question at the botanical gardens. I had scouted the location the week before, recruited a friend for pictures, and I’d say it was definitely nerves all day until everything worked out, Addie slipped on the ring and made me the happiest guy on the planet.

Addie: Well, I knew I was going to happen soon only because I was graduating from pharmacy school May and I may have mentioned that it would be great to be engaged before I graduate. I had no idea that weekend was going to be “the weekend” as I drove to Fort Worth. We spent the morning running errands which was typical for us and discussed going to the botanical gardens that afternoon. Jacob acted kind of quiet while we were shopping but I figured he was just tired from working the night before. Once we were at the gardens and walking around a certain area, I was ready to move on to the next spot but he just kept saying oh let’s go look at this and did you see that over there. I was thinking what more is there to see over here. LOL Finally, we walked across a bridge where he started to tell me all sorts of sweet and loving things and he got down on his knee. I always joked that I was going to say no when he proposed just to throw him off but in the moment I asked him if this was a joke which he assured me it was not and I of course said yes! I later found out that the reason why we were wandering around the same spot is that his friend who was coming to take pictures was lost.

  • Besides getting married – whats the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

Jacob: Definitely getting to see Addie for the first time in her dress.

Addie: I am excited for the entire process of the day. From getting hair and make-up, drinking champagne with my bridal party to seeing Jacob’s face as I walk down the aisle and celebrating with all of our friends and family!

  • If you had to pick a song to be your song today, what would it be?

  • What tips can you give a couple preparing for their engagement photo session?

Be sure to find an outfit that makes you feel your best! Also I loved getting my hair and make-up done because I feel like it made me much more comfortable and confident for our pictures. It helps tremendously that you are taking the pictures with the love of your life, so we just made sure to be ourselves, had fun, and Justin was there to give us direction for certain shots or make sure we looked our best.
